Many<br \/>\nstudies have shown changes in serum cytokine levels in MS and SLE. However, the detailed<br \/>\nchanges in serum cytokine profiles in MS and SLE are poorly understood. Besides,<br \/>\ncomparisons of cytokine profiles in these diseases have not been performed.<br \/>\nThe aim of this work was to investigate changes in the serum cytokine profiles in MS and<br \/>\nSLE patients in comparison with healthy donors in one series of experiments.<br \/>\nThe analysis was carried out in the following groups: a group of SLE patients &#8212; 60 people, a<br \/>\ngroup of MS patients &#8212; 55 people, a group of healthy donors &#8212; 36 people. The concentration<br \/>\nof 41 cytokines was determined using a MAGPIX multiplex analyzer.<br \/>\nPrincipal component analysis and discriminant least squares analysis showed that the<br \/>\ncombined multicytokine profiles of the studied groups differed. It was shown that 13, 10 and<br \/>\n22 out of 41 cytokines were changed when comparing HS vs SLE, HS vs MS, and SLE vs<br \/>\nMS, respectively.<br \/>\nThus, cytokine profiles in SLE and MS differ significantly both in comparison with healthy<br \/>\nindividuals and between these diseases.
