The GMA Network is a Philippine free-to-air television and radio network and is the flagship brand of the publicly traded GMA Media, Inc. On the 29th of October 1961, the first broadcast was made. It is known as the Kapuso Network, after the design of its logo. The logo resembles the shape of a fish. Even though the GMA Network has existed for more fifty years, its new name was only recently made public.
In 2010, the network debuted soaps and shows that were new. In the first quarter, the network launched Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man, Hanggang Kailan, and Zorro. In the fourth and fifth quarters of the year, Pinoy Lambingan new series premiered, such as The Real World, Love Is a Two-Way Street, and Survivor Philippines. The same day, the network formally announced its retirement from the post of CEO and president, and sinesilip appointed Felipe Gozon to the position. He was also chairman. Gilberto Duavit, Jr. was named chief operating officer.
In the 1990s, GMA also changed the logo in the 1990s. In 1994, the company switched to a rainbow-colored heart-shaped logo and introduced a new slogan “One in Heart with the Filipino Family in Any Colors of Life.” GMA Network Inc. was the new corporate name for GMA Network in 2004.
