Antioxidants: good, bad, or ineffective in terms of aging and lifespan? It depends
The problem of the effectiveness of antioxidants in terms of their effect on “normal” aging and age-related diseases is discussed. Methodological aspects of this problem are considered, as well as literature data indicating that in some cases antioxidants, unfortunately, can even be harmful to the body, causing oxidative stress and suppressing some important physiological functions.
