The synergistic effect of p53 and PARP-1 on the nucleosome
Since their discovery, the proteins poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP-1) and p53 have been extensively studied as key players in numerous biological pathways. They are thought to be responsible for the DNA damage response, differentiation, metabolism, and aging. In addition to their common functions, they interact with each other. However, the details of the synergistic chromatin-reorganizing activity of PARP-1 and p53 are largely unknown.
