We developed a mathematical model that reflects the energy balance in the cell under conditions of competition for cellular resources under retrotransposon activity. The model shows the possibility of a significant influence on cellular resources by transposons under modifications of their transcription rate and silencing mechanisms. The described effect can be used to initiate programs of cell death in cancer cells. The modeling results indicate the fundamental possibility of implementing scenarios for the destruction of tumor cells by increasing the load on the energy balance from activated transposons.
