We carried out the analysis of associations between polymorphic loci of antioxidant defense genes with ethnicity and longevity. We found the interethnic differences in the distribution of allele frequencies of SOD1, SOD2, CAT, NQO1 genes. For reaching longevity SOD1, SOD2, NQO1, GPX1 genes were significant among Russians, SOD2 genes – among Tatars, MSRA genes – among Bashkirs.
Thank you for an interesting report.
Could you explain that no longevity-promoting SNP is shared between all studied groups? Among all the SNPs of interest, is it posibble to name the most significant contributor to longevity if all groups are pooled together?
I’d also like to ask some methodological questions:
Antioxidant defense system contains hundreds of genes – both effector and regulatory. How did you choose genes of interest for this study?
What is your rationale behind splitting samples into male+female and male only groups?
Could you please clarify the nature of varying age ranges for each SNP in the “age period” column?
Thank you.
Спасибо за презентацию! Возможно ли на вашей выборке провести анализ сочетанного воздействия изучаемых полиморфизмов? провести анализ взаимодействия между ними?
