The influence of heavy metals on various organs and systems is known. Diabetes disorders are also well understood. The component contribution of glucose loading was manifested in an increase in genotoxic lesions of nerve cells caused by lead intoxication. DNA damage in the tail of nerve cell comets after exposure to lead and glucose loading increased to 52.86 (13.16–73.34) percent compared to 25.28 (12.24–54.79) percent of people poisoned by lead. In animals exposed to lead and glucose, brain cells with high DNA damage in the tail of comets dominated the brain, 62.77 (54.68-70.87) percent of the cells were apoptosis-positive compared to 48.42 (38, 37-58.47) percent rats treated with lead acetate without glucose load.

What animals were taken in the experiment? Did they have metabolic disorders? Or did you use the alimentary hyperglycemia model?
Is it possible to say that lead poisoning in individuals with a high glucose content in the diet leads to a deeper disturbance of the nervous system and affects their behavior?

Good afternoon, dear Anastasia! It’s a pleasure to have you interested in the report. Thank you for the interesting questions.

In the experiment, we created a model of nonedible hyperglycemia. We injected a hypertonic solution of glucose twice a day. At the same time, the rats received lead acetate with drinking water. In the experiment, we did a biochemical analysis of the blood serum. Lipid exchange disorders were detected: increased general cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Lead poisoning in persons with high glucose content in their diet, as well as those with diabetes and prediabetes, leads to deeper nervous disorders and affects their behaviour. This is evidenced by experimental data.

P.S. There were also carbohydrate exchange disorders in rats in group 3. Elevated blood glucose levels were observed.
